Running a YouTube channel often requires teamwork. Whether you are a content creator, brand, or organization, giving access to trusted team members can help you manage uploads, analytics, comments, and community interaction more efficiently. YouTube provides two main ways to add an admin or manager to your channel: through YouTube Studio Permissions or via a Brand Account (if your channel is linked to one).
Sign in to YouTube Studio.
From the left menu, click Settings ⚙️.
Choose Permissions.
Select Invite (top right corner).
Enter the person’s Google account email.
Assign a role:
Manager/Admin → Full access to channel management (except deleting the channel).
Editor → Can upload, edit, view analytics.
Viewer → Read-only access.
Click Done. The invited person will receive an email invite to accept.
✅ This is the simplest way if your channel is not linked to a Brand Account.
If your YouTube channel is linked to a Brand Account (common for businesses, brands, and organizations):
Go to the Google Brand Account page.
Select your Brand Account connected with the channel.
Click Manage Permissions.
Choose Invite new users ➕.
Enter their email address.
Assign their role:
Owner → Full control including transfers and deletion.
Manager → Ideal for admins; they can upload, edit, and manage content.
Communications Manager → Limited access (no video uploads).
Send the invite → Once accepted, the person becomes part of your channel team.
Only the channel owner can add or remove admins.
Be cautious with Owner role; only give it to highly trusted partners.
For most teams, the Manager role is sufficient.
You can remove or change roles anytime from the same settings.
Adding an admin to your YouTube channel helps share the workload, improve productivity, and grow your channel faster. Whether you’re managing a personal channel or a brand channel, following the right steps ensures your team can collaborate securely and effectively.
