If you own two domains — say domain1.com and domain2.com — and want visitors from the second one to automatically redirect to the first, you’re in the right place! This is common when you rebrand your business, consolidate websites, or simply want multiple domains to lead to the same WordPress site.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the exact process to redirect one domain to another in Hostinger, using simple methods that preserve SEO ranking and ensure visitors always reach your main website.
You might want to redirect your domain for reasons such as:
You purchased multiple domains (e.g., .com, .in, .net) and want them to point to one site.
You’re rebranding or changing your main website address.
You merged websites and want to keep traffic from the old domain.
You want to avoid confusion between similar domains.
A 301 redirect ensures your visitors (and Google) know the new address is permanent.
The easiest way to redirect is through Hostinger’s built-in redirect tool.
Log in to your Hostinger account and open the hPanel.
Go to Websites → domain2.com → Redirects.
Click Add Redirect.
Fill in the details:
Source URL: /
Target URL: https://domain1.com
Type: Permanent (301)
Save your settings.
That’s it! All visitors typing domain2.com will now land on domain1.com.
.htaccess File (Manual Method)If you prefer full control or want to edit directly, you can use an .htaccess redirect.
Go to Hostinger → File Manager → domain2.com/public_html/
Open or create a file named .htaccess.
Add this code at the top:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?domain2\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://domain1.com/$1 [L,R=301]Save the file and you’re done!
This will redirect every page from domain2.com to domain1.com while maintaining subpage URLs.
If you don’t want to keep hosting for the second domain:
Remove hosting for domain2.com.
Go to DNS Zone Editor in Hostinger.
Add a URL Redirect Record:
Type: URL Redirect
Host: @
Value: https://domain1.com
TTL: 3600
Redirect Type: Permanent (301)
This method is simple, but may not preserve SEO perfectly for deep URLs.
If both domains share the same hosting plan:
Go to hPanel → Manage Hosting → Domains → Add Domain Alias
Add domain2.com
Check the option Redirect to primary domain
This automatically forwards all visitors to your main domain.
Always use 301 (Permanent) redirects instead of 302 (Temporary).
Search engines transfer link equity, ensuring your main domain retains traffic and ranking power.
| Visitor Enters | Redirects To |
|---|---|
http://domain2.com | https://domain1.com |
https://www.domain2.com/about | https://domain1.com/about |
domain2.com/contact | domain1.com/contact |
If your redirect isn’t working:
Clear your browser cache and DNS cache.
Make sure both domains use Hostinger nameservers.
Confirm the redirect type is 301.
Wait a few minutes — DNS changes can take time to propagate.
Redirecting one domain to another in Hostinger is simple — and doing it the right way ensures you keep your traffic, SEO ranking, and user trust. Whether you use the hPanel redirect, .htaccess, DNS record, or alias method, all roads can lead to your main website with just a few clicks!
