When a Google Workspace user account is deleted:
Gmail mailbox is removed
Google Drive files are deleted
Calendar events disappear
Contacts are removed
Google Meet history may be lost
However, the account remains recoverable for 20 days.
Follow these steps to restore the account.
Open:
https://admin.google.com
Login using a Super Administrator account.
Navigate to:
Admin Console โ Directory โ Users
Click โRecently Deleted Usersโ.
Find the deleted user account from the list.
Click Restore User.
You must assign the user to an Organizational Unit (OU).
Example:
Employees
Sales Department
IT Department
Click Restore to recover the account.
The user will regain access to:
Gmail
Google Drive
Google Meet
Google Calendar
Account recovery will not work if:
More than 20 days have passed
Data was manually deleted after recovery
Storage policies permanently removed files
To avoid losing important business data:
Suspend accounts instead of deleting them immediately
Transfer user data before deletion
Use Google Vault for retention
