If you're experiencing delays while sending or receiving emails in Microsoft Outlook, Quick Heal Total Security’s built-in Email Protection and Real-Time Scanning features might be the cause. This article outlines how to adjust Quick Heal settings to improve Outlook performance without compromising core security.
Quick Heal scans each incoming/outgoing mail, which can slow down Outlook.
Open Quick Heal Total Security
Navigate to: Protection → Email Protection
Uncheck:
Scan outgoing mails
Scan incoming mails
(Optional) Scan SSL connections
Save settings and restart Outlook.
Outlook constantly accesses .ost
and .pst
files, which Quick Heal may slow down if scanned live.
Go to: Protection → Scan Settings → Exclude Files & Folders
Add folder paths like:
C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
Save changes.
This reduces file-based interference.
Go to: Protection → Scan Settings → Exclude File Extensions
Add: .pst
, .ost
Click OK.
This ensures Quick Heal doesn’t slow or block Outlook's network activity.
Go to: Settings → Internet & Network → Firewall/Trusted Applications
Add Outlook.exe
to trusted list.
Also add your mail server IP/domain to the Network Exceptions list.
Silent Mode reduces Quick Heal's intervention during troubleshooting.
Right-click the Quick Heal icon in the taskbar
Select Enable Silent Mode
Task | Setting Location | Outcome |
---|---|---|
Disable Mail Scan | Email Protection | Faster mail send/receive |
Exclude PST/OST Files | Scan Settings | Reduced file access lag |
Exclude File Types | Scan Settings | Less scanning overhead |
Firewall Whitelist | Internet & Network | Avoid network interference |
After applying these changes, test Outlook again. If the performance improves significantly, it confirms Quick Heal was delaying mail traffic.
