Routers are the central connection point between computers, smartphones, servers, smart TVs, CCTV systems, printers, IoT devices and the Internet. When a router develops a problem, users may see an explicit error code, a red or orange LED, a PPPoE authentication failure, a DNS error, an invalid WAN IP address, or simply the familiar “Connected, No Internet” message.

Troubleshooting can be confusing because router manufacturers do not use one universal error-code system. TP-Link, D-Link, Netgear, ASUS, Linksys, Tenda, MikroTik, Cisco, Huawei and ZTE may describe similar faults differently. 1. First Understand: Router Error Codes Are Not Universal

3. Error 691 – PPPoE Username or Password Rejected

The computer or mobile device connects successfully to Wi-Fi, but reports:

Connected, No Internet

Important point

Wi-Fi connectivity and Internet connectivity are different.

Your device can successfully connect to the router while the router itself has no Internet connection.

Check the router's WAN status.

If the router has:

  • Valid WAN IP
  • Gateway
  • DNS servers

then the ISP connection may be active.

If the WAN IP is 0.0.0.0, troubleshoot the WAN/ISP connection.


8. DNS Error – Internet Connected but Websites Do Not Open
