There are several possible causes.
Meeting recording is available only in certain Google Workspace plans such as:
Business Standard
Business Plus
Enterprise Plans
If your plan is Business Starter, recording may not be available.
Administrators may restrict meeting recording permissions.
Login to Admin Console
Navigate to
Apps โ Google Workspace โ Google Meet
Open Meet Settings
Enable Meeting Recording
Only the meeting organizer or users in the same organization can start recording.
External participants cannot start recordings.
Meeting recordings are stored in Google Drive.
If the organizer's storage is full, recording may fail.
After recording ends:
Processing takes a few minutes
File appears in Google Drive โ Meet Recordings
Users should check the organizerโs Drive folder.
Join the meeting
Click Activities
Select Recording
Click Start Recording
Participants will see a notification that recording has started.
